Submitting Items to the Gene® Database

This list and database are evolving and I add to them when I have time.  I rely on submissions from others in order to supply complete details.  I thank everyone who has helped with this.

If you would like to contribute, let me know what you can supply (item name, and whether you can give description, photos, or both) and I will make sure that no one else is duplicating your efforts.

By submitting anything to the Gene Database, you give permission for me to edit it and publish it as I see fit.

Please see this page as an example of the types of details and photos that I am looking for:  Lavender Lights.  I do request submissions in particular formats.

Descriptions:

Please submit these in an email text or Word document.  Items should be bullet-pointed or listed on separate lines.  Descriptions should be concise, but effective.  If you can identify fabrics, please do.  As an example of details, instead of saying "white slip", I would prefer "white mid-length 2-layer tulle slip with ribbon tie at waist".

Photos:

Photos need to be in a .jpg format.  You can send them to me attached to an email or upload them to temporary storage on the internet and send me links to download them.  Do not put them in the email itself.  Emails generally condense the photos and lose quality.

For photos, all items should be laid out separately so all are visible.  Use a simple background - tabletop, cloth, etc.  Take a photo of the entire outfit (all pieces) and close-up photos of accessories (shoes, jewelry, etc.).  Photos should be no larger than 640 x 480 pixels.

If you are doing many outfits at a time, I would love to get photos of shoes and/or jewelry sets.  Please see these pages as an example: Necklace Pictures, Earring Pictures, Bracelet Pictures.  I'll do the lettering, as long as you make it clear what is what in a description. :-)   If you are only doing one outfit, you can photograph the jewelry, but it will take longer for me to compile photos of individual jewelry pieces and get them onto the site.

Story Cards:

Story cards can be typed in either an email or a Word document.  Multiple storycards can be put in an individual document/email, but please put a list at the top of everything that is in the document.  Also, put the name of each item in the document preceeding the story, in bold type if possible (so I can easily see where one story ends and the next begins).   I copy and paste these, but I do not always proof-read.
