Baking Cookies

New to Hollywood, Gene was a tantalizing mystery to the eager public: who exactly WAS this pretty little starlet? Ingénue? Temptress? Sinner or Saint? Filmgoers clamored for more information.

And so Monolithic Studios began Gene’s big build-up. Photographers were given free rein to shoot her in as many roles as the studio costume shop had outfits (but no cheesecake—R.L.’s orders).

One snapshot jockey came up with the idea of having Gene pose baking cookies for the Bratzanjammer Boys. The Boys were one of Monolithic’s hottest properties, and their rambunctious movies brought many a guffaw (and many a tear) to adoring audiences. BUT...

They were also notorious for their off-screen bad-boy behavior and practical jokes. So when sweet-tempered Gene showed up for the shoot, they were ready to put this “new kid” to the test. There she stood with a prop tray of cookies, and the boys lunged for them and gobbled them up without a word. But Gene was prepared for the onslaught.

“I’m so happy you like my treats, Boys,” smiled Gene sweetly. “I made them just for you—with an added California ingredient: I think they’re called ‘jalapenos’...”

And from that point on (after a gallon or two of milk), the Bratzanjammers were on their best behavior whenever their “one-of-the-guys-gal” Gene was nearby.
