It's a Wrap

“Aaaaaaannnnd CUT!” shouted the director. “A perfect take, Gene. That does it, people--that was out last shot and production is now officially wrapped. And that means...?”

“The wrap PARTY!” shouted the cast and crew in unison--and off they scattered to the dressing rooms and crew lockets to get ready.

Gene Marshall smiled a little wearily. She was more than ready for the fun of the party, but that last scene had been a tough one, full of emotion. She was even more ready for a nice long soak in the tub.

Opening the door to her bungalow on the lot, she saw that her dresser had anticipated her need for a little time to unwind from the hectic schedule of filmmaking.

For there, tucked in the folds of the robe carefully laid out across the chaise lounge, were a bottle of bubble bath, a rubber duck, and a note: “I know with your ‘bubbly’ personality and the way you get ‘wrapped’ up in a role, this movie’s going to be just ‘ducky’--enjoy the party AND your bath.”

Gene laughed as she eased into the luxurious froth and steered the little yellow duck around the tub with her toe. In the steamy bath, her honest-hard-work weariness floated away like the bubbles, and as she stepped from the tub and wrapped her robe around her, an evening enjoying friends made during filming seemed, indeed “ducky.”
